Catering at The Priory
at the Priory Residential Care Home, Devon.

Mealtimes are an important part of the daily routine and should be a pleasurable experience and an opportunity for social interaction. We recognise the role good nutrition plays in the health and well-being of elderly residents and because of this we source our fresh food locally and cook it in our own kitchen. Our cakes are home-made too.
A new kitchen was installed in the summer of 2008 .
Special diets are catered for and we are flexible enough to take account of residents’ likes and dislikes, also food allergies and intolerances. Food should not only taste good but look inviting as well so thought is given both to planning the menu and presentation.
We do encourage residents to eat together in the dining room but are happy for them to eat in their own rooms if they so wish.

Family and friends are welcome |
When family and friends visit they are welcome to sit down for a meal with us. Tea and coffee, biscuits or cakes are always available at other times. Birthday lunches can easily be arranged and a special table or a separate room prepared. We want residents to feel that The Priory is their home and that their friends and relations are welcome as part of the family.

Fresh produce |
Our catering team uses only fresh produce and ingredients. We cut down on “food miles” by shopping in Ottery for our meat, fruit and vegetables. Over the years we have built up a relationship of trust with our excellent butcher and green grocer and are assured of quality and freshness and the benefits of locally grown produce in season. We believe in additive free home cooking and avoid all pre-prepared bought in meals.
Good food and a well balanced diet can bring about an improvement in general health, alertness and well-being.
